Etsy on Martha Stewart 2-29-07

So I have today off from work, to spend the day celebrating Natasha's 5th birthday. My mom called me to tell me that Rob Kalin founder of Etsy was on Martha Stewart...now in the forums people have said that Etsy wasn't doing enough to advertise... I think they just made a major leap for advertising... Martha Stewart "Miss Crafter" herself, took time out to check out some of really items from Etsy sellers. I am just overjoyed. I don't expect it to change or boost sales overnight, but once the people who saw her show check out Etsy and pass the word on...people who would have never found us - will FIND US....YEAH!!!

Alex is a native of Washington. He lives in Lacey and is attending
South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) studying Artificial Intelligence (AI). In the fall he planning to attend Bellevue Community College (BCC) to study video game development. The two programs he works most with is Zbrush (3-d art) and Photoshop (digital art).

My baby girl is 5 today

Today my little Natasha turned 5.

I told her last night I was side because before I know it she will be 10, then 16 dating and driving, 18 graduating high school and then going off to college...then married and having a baby and her baby will be turning 5 before I know it.

She told me that she would slow down growing up for me. She said she doesn't want to grow up that fast...wouldn't it be nice if we could control that.

But before I know it she will be a teenager and I will want her graduated and out of my house....lol I am thrilled at the little that is turning out to be, I just wish she would stay little for a little longer.

She starts kindergarten this fall - where does the time go???

My first non-team treasury

I love five year olds

This is what Natasha did Friday...All I have to say is I HATE beanbags. We are still cleaning. When I asked why, she told me her brainfell out and she went crazy...YOU THINK!
Note:This is only one room in my house and only half the beanbag was used.
While I had a major melt down Alex took over and had her come in andhelp while they swept her room. Since my brand new vaccuum overheatedand my shop vac blew it out the back....I had friend tell me I should use it as out 08 xmas cards, with anote "And she lived..." I really thinking about doing it.
I have laughed so much about it today. I am happy Alex had me take apic of it. However now I have been bombarded with horrible beanbagdeath related stories...ugh I am happy ours is gone.

Keep this family in your prayers!

A fellow Seattle-Etsy artist hasn't seen her husband since Wednesday when he didn't return home from work. His young family (2 youngsters & pregnant wife Christine) is frantic, as this is totally out of character. His car was found yesterday. Though this has been widely publicized in all Seattle area papers & local TV, here is an opportunity for individuals like you & me to spread the word & pray & support in every possible way his young family. Here are a few ideas: Please post his picture on your website, send a message of support to Christine & kids on the Frapper map, & pray for the safe return of this fine young man. Click on this link to a site supporting the search efforts -- http://mailpen.net/ The family will be grateful for whatever you can do to help!

NICHOLAS FRANCISCO, last seen Feb. 13, 2008 leaving work in Lower Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle. Approx 6' tall.

February 18, 2008, Nicholas's car has been found.

I have a section in my store (daisiemaicreations) for the Francisco Family. 50% of those sales will be donated to the family.

Rava-Licious!!!!

The original sex-kitten!!!!
This is how my Ravie sleeps. Which always makes me smile. We adopted her from rescue center in August. When got her she was 5lbs, she is now 14lbs. Which is crazy - her nickname is Bertha! She answers to it, I am sure she doesn't know it means she is big-boned. hehehehe
She is an awesome cat, she is cuddly and LOVES to be petted and purrs all of the time. She wasn't really playful for the longest time, which really annoyed her sister Twinkle. Then one day she found a big empty cardboard box in my closet...she ventured in and become "The Ravinator -Destroyer of all Boxes". It sound like there were five cats in there ripping it a part. Finally I moved the box out of my bedroom, because "The Ravinator's" working hours start at 3 am. The funny about this is, she won't touch the corragated cardboard scratching post that I bought her for her and Twinkle...strange. She is very territorial of her box, if the Twinkle aka Ninja Kitty tries to enter the box it is on. The Ravinator becomes a force to be reckoned with...once she chases her out of the box and boxed her head a couple of times. The ravinator will lay inside of the box, along the backside so she can't be seen until Ninja Kitty pokes her head in the box - and the bam smacked in the head. As crazy as this may sound...Ninja Kitty loves the Ravinator and LOVES to play the box game.

All I can say is it is cheap entertainment....

Lady Lucretia

Well Twinkle got her very own blog - so my other two critters were jealous. Even though Ravie got an honorable mention, she did not think that was enough.

Here we have Lady Lucretia aka Critter. She is a 9 year old siberian husky. I bought her for my ex in 1998 - he wanted a dog soooo bad. Funny enough when he left he didn't take her with. I had always been a cat person - but Critter has won me over. She is pretty great dog - if you look past that she is too smart for her own good. She can open snapple bottles and drink out of them, she can drink out of the toilet even if you put the lid down and loves to root through my clothes when I am not paying attention. She so lovable and cuddly sometimes you just can't stand her. LOL

The picture above was taken on our way to Blue Lake, in Eastern Washington. We went camping for a week there last summer. The funny part of it, is went in a 4 door hyundai accent. 2 adults, a 4 year and a dog and the car packed to the gills. It was one of the best camping trips, I have ever been on.
Other then out tent getting blown to bits...Dorothy, I don't think we are in Kansas anymore...lol We had to spend the night in the tent, with the wind blowing like crazy. I don't recommend it to anyone.

I made it!!!!

I applied and I got in. Here it is my membership number!!! Yeah for me. It looks like the week is turning up - just in time for the weekend.

I almost lost my mom this week...

So it has been a really crazy week so far...even if you take away that work is crazy with legislative session going on and Alex having 3 teeth pulled on Tuesday. For those of you who don't know my has Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1), in short she has genetic lung disease.

She has not been feeling well for the last few days, Tuesday morning after only about 2 hours of sleep she work up with a 101.2 temperature. When I talked to here she said she felt icky, but nothing major. My step-dad went to work as normal (1:30 - pm - 11:30 pm). That night she started to feel really bad, she couldn't get enough oxygen (with her disease she has lost a lot of elasticty in her lungs). She couldn't get a hold of my stepdad at work and he left his cell phone at home. She started to panic, when he got home she was in respitory failure. He called 911 and the ambulance came and got her. He called me to let me know what was going and said he call me later.

At 2:30 he called and told me I needed to come because she wasn't turning around. I panicked, for many reasons, it's my mom, she is only 50, I am the one who has to make decisions for her medically if they have to be made...on and on and on. I emailed my dad and family before I left the house in a panic of my own, texted a couple of my friends on the way. Crying most of the way there and then I stopped and started sending vibes to my mom..."You are a fighter, girl-up, put your big girl panties on and fight this. I am not ready to lose you!"

When I got to the hospital, she had a mask on with a 5-point harness giving her albutirol, they had given her steroids and they were waiting for it to kick in. Her heart was 222 and blood pressure was 197/108. She was fighting the mask, the doctor and nurse kept telling her that if they took it off they would have to put a tube down her throat. At one point after getting there I almost passed out, I told the nurse I didn't feel good, they made me lay down and put cold rags on my head and got me some juice. I laughed later and told the nurse that my mom was getting to attention, because obviously everything is about me....lol

As the morning went on and she fought with the mask and became more awnery, her ehart rate went down to 150 and bloodpressure was at 120/66. MUCH better. She finally went to sleep at about 4:30, they then moved her to the ICU. She spent yesterday sedated and being pumped full of steroids and antibiotics.

I spoke with her this morning, they will be moving her to her own room today. She says she is feeling a lot better. She is very emotional right now, which is to be expected. They had to pump 80 percent of carbon dioxide out of her lungs that night.

The doctor told my stepdad and I that we almost lost her. The awesome thing about the doctor, he was the doctor who was in the ER in February 05, that told my mom about Alpha 1 and that she should be tested. So he knew her history and he knew how serious her situation was. So thank goodness for that.

So at this time she is on the road to recovery, but we don't know how long she will be in the hospital. I will keep you updated as I know more.
